Macroplastique is a soft-tissue bulking agent. consisting of solid, irregularly textured, medical grade polydimethylsiloxane elastomer implants suspended in a hydrogel carrier of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP or povidone).
Macroplastique is indicated for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence resulting from an incompetent sphincteric mechanism. When implanted between the mid-urethra and bladder neck, the implants act as a bulking material aiding in the restoration of urinary continence.
Macroplastique is indicated for the treatment of vesicoureteral reflux. When implanted at the ureteral orifice, the tissue bulking provides occlusive pressure to reduce or eliminate vesicoureteral reflux.
